Ryan had no idea how he'd come this far. He still remembered the day when he'd saved Alary and that had changed his life forever. The girl herself, had turned his life upside down. She'd saved his life in return, and come with him as the others had turned their back on her, calling her a traitor. She had come with him, a virtual stranger, and slowly they'd become friends from strangers. They felt a strange connection between them, one that they'd tried to avoid, but had failed.
Ryan could still remember those words of friendship, of comfort that Alary had given him. It never ceased to amaze him how easily she had trusted him, and how her words had soothed him. He was a broken fellow, built with nothing but bad memories.. She had somehow made him see the light, want to do something good for the world. In short, she'd penetrated into his core, and touched the real, dormant Ryan.
And then their beautiful unnamed relationship came all crumbling down, when both of them surpassed the boundaries of friendship, and had slept with each other. It was an incident that neither could forget. And it was also the incident which had changed their lives once again, for neither was willing to give what the other wanted. The next day, Alary had left him, just like that.
Ryan had been devastated. Even devastated was putting it mildly. He might not have been ready for a relationship, because he knew that she deserved more than him, but he wasn't ready to let go of her either, and when she had left, it had broken his heart - something Ryan never knew he possessed. Alary had made him feel, made him realise that life was worth living, and people always had the right to choose.
And so he chose. He chose to join the rebellion and go against his own uncle, because his uncle was wrong. It took time for people to trust him, but eventually he managed to do so. Gradually, he became an integral part of the rebellion. It was two years since he had last seen Alary, but he still remembered her very well. Her scent, her eyes, her smile, her voice, her skin, her hair, hell everything. Not a single day had passed when he had not missed her. He pined for her, but he was not the one for her. He had realised that long time back.. He was very well aware of his faults, and thus he knew that she deserved better.
That fateful day he'd received an owl saying that one other rebellion headquarters had been attacked so it would be merged with his own. Ryan had no problem with this news. Two brains were better than one. He was late for a meeting with his new partner because of some unexpected fights, and imagine his surprise when a certain brunette who'd stolen his peace of mind, who'd made herself a permanent resident of his dreams stood in front of him. "Alary?" He softly asked.
