 Old Friends meet.. [catie/phoenix]

Catie Woods had been Catie Diggory for almost four years now, and they had been living in their secluded flat since then. She'd given birth to her twins, Annette and Leanne; who took up most of her time. Cedric was always by her side when she needed him, and that's what she loved about him the most. The unspoken bond, he knew what she wanted, what she thought. He was a remarkable husband. No doubt, they still bicker, but their love was as strong as ever.

It seemed to be a peaceful morning in London, as she prepared lunch for her kids. Leanne and Annette had long sleeping hours, thank god for that. Otherwise, she wouldn't have a minute even to breathe. Cedric had left his quidditch professorship the night Hogwarts was attacked. He now helped train a local quidditch team. He hadn't gotten over his phobia, since that fateful night, when he nearly escaped death. That was the reason for their seclusion. Catie understood how her husband felt, and respected his wishes. But she was getting a little bored by herself, doing nothing but watching over the kids. Not that she blamed him. She'd perhaps be worse than him, if she'd faced the same thing.

She knew the empire still existed. She was in touch with Nancy who'd keep her apprised of the same. Sometimes, she'd go visit Nancy and her son, Lucas; but she couldn't make herself stay for long. Nancy had changed once she realized Landon was not coming back, and Catie was sure that she didn't like those changes. Catie was worried sick about her, but its not like she could do anything to stop Nancy's self - deterioration, she needed to catch hold of Landon for that. Catie had tried sending him an owl, but it was all in vain. Someday Landon will return, and she'd give him a nice sounding. She just hoped that it wasn't too late by then.

She came out of her deep thinking as she heard the pecking noise. She flicked her wand so that it would finish cooking, as she went to check out the noise. It was an owl. As she removed the parchment attached to it, she said aloud, "Hmm, let's see what you've got me this time.." The envelope had the symbol of St. Mungo's. Oh good, her results were there; she'd been feeling a lot queasy lately. As she perused through the contents of the letter, she smiled to herself. Just as she had suspected;

Dear Mrs. Diggory;

We're extremely happy to inform you that your test results came out positive. Congratulations! You;re eleven weeks pregnant. Please stop by for a check up with a healer.

Healer Nancy Woods,

St. Mungo's

There was a second parchment inside the envelope.

Hey Catie, Congratulations! Another baby eh? I don't know how you're going to manage. Lucas himself keeps me busy all the time. And you already have Leanne and Annette. Anyways, we should meet soon.

Love,
Nan.

P. S. - How are you going to break the big news to Ced? :P

Catie chuckled aloud remembering how she'd told Cedric that she was pregnant. Oh well, this time too - a shrill cry broke her thought process. She rushed to the babies' room, where Leanne was still asleep, while Annette was awake. She took her one and a half year old daughter in her arms and tried to calm her down, as she patted her back. "Shhh... Sweetie.. It's alright, Mamma's here. Now, sweetheart are you hungry?" Catie asked, rhetorically. As she fed her, Catie thought of a way to break the news to Cedric, and smirked.

Annette was now wide awake, and there was a fat chance that she'd go back to sleep, unlike Leanne, who was quiet and asleep all the time. Annette was also the dominating of the two. She packed a few clothes, and all the necessary baby items. She took the sleeping Leanne in her arms, where she snuggled around Catie's neck, and she caught hold of Annette's hand. Annette had started walking, so she didn't have to carry them both.

Catie apparated to Chicago for that's where Phoenix stayed along with her cousin and Catie's god son Blaine. Catie crossed her fingers, hoping Phoenix still lived at the same place as a couple of years ago. Before leaving, she'd left a parchment on the kitchen table which read ; 'Come, find me Rick ;D' Ced was going to kill her when he'd finally find her. That;s when she'd tell him the good news. She arrived at Phoenix's doorstep with her twins in tow. Emmy opened the door, as usual. Catie smiled, sheepishly. She'd come uninvited. She finally said, "Umm, Hey Emmy, Phoenix home?"

[[hahha, make sure Phoenix asks her, 'What is it this time Catie, a crisis or a good news? Otherwise, you dont seem to remember we exist']]

It had been four years since Phoenix had given up magic, but she still had a hard time washing dishes by hand. She often found herself wondering if it was worth it. All she had to do was think about the problems going on in the wizarding world, and she knew it was the only way to keep her son safe.

Quitting magic had not been an especially difficult choice. After all, it had caused most of the problems in her life. First her parents had disowned her for being a 'freak' and then the man she loved had been killed by one of the most powerful wizards to ever live. She didn't want to risk anything happening to Blaine because of magic.

Phoenix still had her wand in case of an emergency, and she had by no means kept magic a secret from her son. She just thought that it would be safer for him if he did not know how to use it.

Thinking about her past made Phoenix wonder what was going on in her friend, Catie's, life. It had been over a year since they had talked, and even longer since they had last seen each other. The last she heard from Catie was that she had twin girls named Leanne and Annette. Phoenix had no idea how the other woman managed to take care of two children. She was having enough trouble with just Blaine. Having two of him was something she didn't even want to think about.

Phoenix was still lost in thought when the doorbell rang. She ignored it like she usually did. The only people to visit were Emmy's friends, so she had gotten into the habit of letting Emmy always get the door.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Emmy was surprised when she opened the door and found Catie Diggory. She noticed the sheepish look on Catie's face and couldn't help but smile. Even though she always showed up without warning, Emmy was happy to see her every time.

"Yeah, come in! I'll go and get her," she said with a grin as she walked to the kitchen.

"Phoenix, Catie is here!"

Without a word Phoenix dropped the pan she was washing and ran to meet her best friend.

"What is it this time Catie, a crisis or good news? Otherwise, you don't seem to remember we exist!" She said, only half joking.

Emmy always had the suspicious frowning face whenever she opened the door. But as Emmy knew Catie, she smiled, beckoning her to come inside. "Annette, that's aunt Emmy," said Catie, as Emmy called out for Phoenix. As Phoenix rushed to meet her, Catie said, "And that is Aunt Phoenix. Go say hi."

Catie laughed at Phoenix's comment. She remembered the last time she was here.. It was over a year ago, or probably even more than that. Catie had found out that she was pregnant and wanted to surprise Cedric at his workplace. And she'd found him tangled with some female, which set her off. Catie chuckled silently as she recalled the entire ordeal.

"Oh My God, Cedric." she began, as she heard Cedric curse, 'Oh Shit, No, Catie, honey, no, it's not what it looks like.'

Catie was literally fuming, "Not what it looks like? Hell, Ced, It's not even a year since we got married and you're already cheating on me? I should have known better than marrying you. Goddamnit! Hmph."

She shrieked and then she just turned about and left. 'Oh shit,'cursed Cedric once again as he tried to frantically disentangle himself from the random female. He tried to run behind her, but she'd poofed. 'Oh no Catie, trust me..'

On top of that, the random female had the nerve to keep her hand on his shoulder and say:"If it helps, I am sorry." Cedric shrugged, and glowered at her, "If you really are sorry, watch whom you walk into next time, woman. This nearly cost me my love. Now, please excuse me." He apparated to his home, where he wished Catie would be. She wasn't there. He went to his mother in law's place, Nancy's place, but Catie wasn't to be found anywhere. For a couple of days, he searched every possible place for her, but it was all in vain. Finally it struck him. Phoenix. She'd gone to Phoenix;s house when they'd had the major argument before they were married. How could he have forgotten.

Meanwhile, Catie'd gone to see her best friend Phoenix, who'd been more than happy to see her. Catie had last seen Phoenix when she;d got married. She shared the good news with her, and Phoenix had been so excited. Ever her godson could sense the happiness! Yet, Phoenix noticed she was a bit sad. When she asked Catie, what the matter was, Catie had told her everything. In turn, Phoenix just laughed. "You should have listened to what he said, girl." Catie smiled, "Yeah I know, I over reacted, but he was there, doing god knows what with a random female; I got
mad, jealous even!" Phoenix had a hearty laughter after that. "Besides, Im sure, Ced will find me eventually." Said Catie affirmatively. True to that, Cedric appeared at Phoenix's doorstep, and Catie opened the door for him. "Took you long enough to figure out, Rick," Catie greeted him. He pushed the door aside, and pulled her into a tight embrace, "Catie, darling, I am sorry, but it wasn't what it looked like. She just dashed into me, and I lost my balance, that's when you walked in! I'm sorry. Forgive me?"

Catie smiled, and kissed him in reply. "You're forgiven, Ced, how could I stay mad at my baby's father?" It took awhile for Cedric to react.

"Whoa, wait a minute, did you just say Baby's father?" Asked Cedric, his hands on her upper arms, gently squeezing them. Catie merely nodded.

"Are you..? Are we..? Am I..?" Ced mumbled in broken sentences, completely surprised, it was the happy kind of surprise. Catie kept on nodding her head with a soft smile. Finally, a grin broke out in Cedric's face, as he lifted her up and kissed her hard. Catie replied to his kiss fervently, when they both heard Phoenix's cough. They both turned their head sideways and grinned. "Seriously guys, I understand the love and happiness and all, but there is a child here. Keep it G, please?"

Back to the present: "Phoenix!" said Catie in greeting as she hugged her best friend. "How are you?" And then she continued, "Phoenix, you know it's not like that. But in answer to you question, it's a bit of both, more of the latter though." There was a huge smile on her face, urging Phoenix to guess what the news was.

After Phoenix hugged Catie she felt someone tugging on her jeans. Looking down she saw that it was Annette. Her arms were stretched up towards Phoenix. Phoenix had never been able to resist cute children so, grinning, she picked up Annetteand held her as she talked to Catie.

The only times that she saw her friend were on occasions like this, where Catie had some incredible news to announce. When Phoenix was asked to guess the news she scrunched up her face in thought. "You met Edward Cullen, fell in love, and you're leaving Ced for him?"

Phoenix laughed. "Why don't you just tell me? I'm never going to guess!"
